Thanks, I was hoping that some people who know Dream Theater and Marillion better than me might try to highlight some specific music for those of us who are not fans. I just chose a way to choose the Marillion tracks without considering the quality. Choosing 1995, as I think that and 1996 (and 1997) are such amazing years for music, here is a.

Obviously Dream Theater and Marillion's general sound took a lot from Rush and Genesis respectively, but they also mirror them in other ways. I do like when they pick it up a bit, but those are not usually my favorite tracks. Generally the deeper, more significant songs are slower burns.

This is the third part comparing Dream Theater, Marillion and Swans for a time period. The first was for 2010 up, the second for the 90s. and the third for the 80s. Dream Theater only released one album in the 80s, When Dream and Day Unite (1989) but it has my favourite DT track with The Ytse Jam, which is to me very reminiscent of Spinal Tap's.

I'm really late to the Marillion party. It wasn't until last year that I listened to "Misplaced Childhood" and wondered where it has been my whole life. From there naturally I also got into "Clutching at Straws". Finally today randomly put on a post-Fish album, "Seasons End". Holy crap. Amazing album.
